Treat the multiple triggers behind inflammation for lasting relief from sensitivity flare-ups.
Itching, burning, stinging and redness are the obvious signs of sensitive skin. The triggers behind these sensations are less clear: genetics, hormones, stress, chemical assaults, foods and even aggressive skin treatments can intensify skin’s highly reactive state. The common thread behind irritation, flushing and stinging is inflammation. When paired with the loss of skin’s protective barrier, skin health is compromised and becomes highly reactive.
UltraCalming™ contains UltraCalming™ Complex, our exclusive complex clinically proven to control neurogenic and immunogenic inflammatory pathways that lead to skin sensitivity.

I have very sensitive skin and I use a lot of Dermalogica products, however this one dried my skin out horribly. My makeup got wrecked because of the product, but much worse than that the dryness and tightness caused by this product was awful. It also gave me acne all over my neck and decollete area. I tried this product several times with the same results each time.
At first i thought this was great, then it started to leave my skin with big cystic acne/spots and also caused a lot of red & burning. I ended up stopping using it and my skin cleared up eventually. I use all of the ultra-calming range and have never had an issues before, but having read some of the other comments it seems i'm not the only one whose skin didn't agree with this.
I switched to the Super Sensitive Shield SPF30 (from Oil Free Matte SP30) because I absolutely love all the other products in this line. Unfortunately this isn't a right match for me. The product is super thin and runny which makes it difficult to apply, it makes my face look extremely pasty, it's difficult to apply make-up once applied and it also makes my face (and hands) feel extremely sticky. Unfortunately I will have to switch back to Oil Free Matte.
I wanted to see if it would last the 3 month test to see if this product really would work. And though I didn't see any major reaction at the beginning, I realized that it progressively dried my skin out. It's quite a sticky texture and though I understand it's a physical sunscreen, it always felt like it would leave a dry layer after application. I still love dermalogica products and have tried new Dermalogica products that I've been using underneath to solve my skin issues, but I'm convinced the top layer, the super sensitive shield, has been the cause of troublesome skin.
At first, I believed that it was my great choice because I love the smell and it is for super sensitive skin, but as the result, it made my skin more small white pumps and acnes.
Recommended this by approved retailer made my skin feel parched, tight and flaky. Product stuck to the dry areas of my skin. Very unhappy with the product.

I was excited about this product because when I first used it because it smells wonderful and felt really light going on. However this makes my face so oily and is causing breakouts like I'm a teenager again. It's difficult to find balance in skincare products when I have both breakout-prone AND sensitive skin, but this obviously is not helping.
Typical sunscreen- may be calming but still thick and casper- inducing. Fine for true outdoor activities but can't be used under makeup. Why did they take away the anti-redness primer!?
I absolutely love this sunscreen. I have been using prescribed Retin A for the past month and my skin has naturally become more sensitive. I've used every facial SPF Dermalogica has to offer and this one is my favorite. It has a milky consistency. When you first apply it to your face it leaves a white residue (Which I Love!) the white residue let's me know I didn't miss any spots and every inch of my face is completely covered. After about 5 minutes it's completely soaked into my skin and I'm glowing and sun protected! No redness, no irritation! Perfect for those with sensitive skin or Retin A users.
