Treat the multiple triggers behind inflammation for lasting relief from sensitivity flare-ups.
Itching, burning, stinging and redness are the obvious signs of sensitive skin. The triggers behind these sensations are less clear: genetics, hormones, stress, chemical assaults, foods and even aggressive skin treatments can intensify skin’s highly reactive state. The common thread behind irritation, flushing and stinging is inflammation. When paired with the loss of skin’s protective barrier, skin health is compromised and becomes highly reactive.
UltraCalming™ contains UltraCalming™ Complex, our exclusive complex clinically proven to control neurogenic and immunogenic inflammatory pathways that lead to skin sensitivity.

I was diagnosed with hypersensitive and am allergic to 3 different common ingredients. With my skin type even though a product doesn't contain ingredients I'm allergic to, it still takes a couple of days to get used to the new product. The first few days of applying this sunscreen my face did get a little irritated, but got used to it after day five. I love and higly recommend this sunscreen.
I've been using Dermalogica for about a month and so far I've really like every product I've tried. I use the Special Cleansing Gel, Microfoliant, Skin smoothing cream and the Multivitamin power firm for my eyes. I have very sensitive skin so sometimes i use the Ultra calming cleanser and toner instead of the special cleansing gel. I ordered this SPF thinking since it was from the Ultra Calming line it would be great for me. No chemical SPF sold me. I received it today and the first thing I did was smell it hoping it wouldn't have a strong or offensive odor. Lavender, lots and lots of lavender. I know lavender can be irritating so I tested a small drop on the side of my neck. Within 5 minutes my neck was BURNING, and I had to go wash it off. After it was washed off that area of my neck was visibly red. I only hope it got it in time and it won't be irritated for long. UGH, so disappointed and now I have to figure out not only how to return this product, but also what to use instead.
I use Dermalogica products, and generally I am pretty satisfied. I have very sensitive and very pale skin with some combination skin tendencies and got this product on recommendation of staff from Dermalogica section. Yet, whenever I try to use it, it causes redness, itchy feel and small bumps especially on my chicks. And it takes 2 to 3 days to back to normal. I had hard times to believe it since I got this product exactly to avoid these kinds of complications. So I stopped everything that I am putting/using on my face but this one, for a while. But nope, this product creates irritation on my skin.
I would love to get some recommendation/help...
This SPF works really well. In the summer, my face is a shade lighter than my arms or rest of body because of this SPF...so I know it works. I like to blend it with active moist - equal parts - and apply that way. If applying alone, a little goes a long way and you want to apply it quickly so it dries evenly. This is not your drugstore SPF to slather on generously. I, too, have had issues traveling with this product as when I open the bottle, a lot of it oozes out or gets stuck in the lid - not a fan of the container.
This is the only sunscreen I use now. I use to not apply sunscreen to my face in fear of a eczema outbreak but I can use this product on my face without any reaction. Its great for sensitive skin.
It makes my skin less oil than using others. However, it's difficult to rub off.
This does work as a sunscreen, but leaves your skin feeling sticky and is so hard to scrub off. It made my skin break out, too! The product also exploded all over my hands when I opened it. Love the Ultra-Calming line, but had to return.
very good product. Would recommend. Great for sensitive skin.
I have very sensitive skin with rosacea, and a lot of the sunscreens either cause irritations or they burn. Dermalogica's super sensitive shield is the only one that I can use without any issues. This is probably my 5th bottle. It spreads really easily and it is on the creamier side and therefore, it does not dry out your skin even in the harsh winter months. To counteract the white cast from a physical sunscreen, I add a drop of foundation in it and my complexion looks great for the whole day.
I've used this for a month now and have not had any issues with it turning my face white, not spreading over my skin evenly or being difficult to wash off. I do follow the full ultra calming regimen and maybe the products used before super sensitive shield make a difference in how it applies and comes off at the end of the day. I don't use a lot either since a little seems to go a long way. My complexion is between fair and medium so maybe that makes a difference with how light it appears. I'm quite happy with this product.

Q:How often do I need to reapply?: Hi... I understand that this product is a moisturiser as well as a sunscreen. I don't normally need to reapply my moisturiser during the course of a day, but in order to get continuous sun protection, would I need to reapply this product every few hours when I am in the sun, like a regular sunscreen? If this is the case, I am also wondering if using this product on days when I won't be outdoors is a 'waste' of the product... So all in all am I better buying separate moisturiser and spf30 sunscreen, so I can only apply the latter when it's needed?
Q:Is this product designed to be added to other moisturizers to provide sun block protection? or is it meant to be used on its own?
Q:how to combat face sweating?: I love this product. Occasionally after use my face will have beads of perspiration which is very noticeable and my hair will be wet from perspiration. Is there a reason for this or another moisturizer from your range I could try?
