ultracalming™

Treat the multiple triggers behind inflammation for lasting relief from sensitivity flare-ups.

Itching, burning, stinging and redness are the obvious signs of sensitive skin. The triggers behind these sensations are less clear: genetics, hormones, stress, chemical assaults, foods and even aggressive skin treatments can intensify skin’s highly reactive state. The common thread behind irritation, flushing and stinging is inflammation. When paired with the loss of skin’s protective barrier, skin health is compromised and becomes highly reactive.

how it works

UltraCalming™ contains UltraCalming™ Complex, our exclusive complex clinically proven to control neurogenic and immunogenic inflammatory pathways that lead to skin sensitivity.

Works well, velvet texture

By

from Washington, DC

I have rosacea, and this product helps reduce everyday redness (but isn't able to calm larger breakouts). It has a velvet-like, not oily, texture.

This products is super. You just need a little and it goes a long way. It seems to allow your make up to have a better "platform". I have never used any sort of primer before but this product is a must!

May be the cause of skin breakout?

By

My entire skin care regime is Dermalogica and I adore the products and the way they have improved my skin.I was given a sample of the redness relief primer at the spa I go to.

I used the sample over three days and was really impressed, I used it once under makeup and the rest of the time alone just to calm my skin a little. My skin looked lovely so I committed to buying the full size tube.

I used it every day for about a week but I noticed by the end of the week I had quite a serious acne breakout around my chin and mouth and a bumpy rash on my forehead, my chin and forehead are the most significantly areas affected by redness so I don't know if I over applied it on those areas.

I have stopped using it for the time being as it is taking a while for the breakout to calm.

I will keep the tube and hopefully use it under make up only which I only wear a few times a year. This is the first Dermalogica product that hasn't been good for me.

This is a great product. A little goes a long way, covers red irritated skin and doesn't add any oil to face. Great product.

  • Q:

When to use: I purchased a moisturiser, barrier repair and this product, when should I use the primer? Should I moisturise, barrier repair, then primer, or primer then barrier repair? Also I don't really have redness, can I still use the primer just for spf, or is there something better I can use?

      Hello,

Thank you for your question. If you are sensitive, you can use moisturizer, Barrier Repair and then Redness Relief Primer SPF 20. Barrier Repair and Redness Relief Primer are for sensitive skin. Please use only small amounts--the size of a grain of rice to a pea.

      Kind Regards,
      The Dermalogica Team

  • Q:

Can redness relief primes spf20 be used as sunscreen?: Can I use this or the skin perfect primer spf30 as a sunscreen? or do I use it in addition to sunscreen? do they only contain physical filter?

I am also wondering if I can use the hydrablur primer under my sunscreen, to prevent my skin from having a reaction to chemical ingredients in some sunscreens?

      Hello,

Thank you for your question. You can use our SPF primers over moisturizers for sun protection. They both contain physical SPF, and do not contain chemical SPF.

Please use Hydrablur over your SPFs.

Ho long after opening does this last?
Asked on 1/21/2016 by sian from Ireland

    1 answer

    • A:

      Hello,

Thank you for your question. This product should have an expiration date stamped on it, due to the fact that it has SPF. Products without SPF or acne ingredients do not have expiration dates and will last for up to a year after opened.
