helps get all the sweaty salty depsits off my face.
especially if i did an outdorr run (city running, pollution, dirt)
its also very gentle.

i'm on the fence when it comes to this product

By

i'm a huge fan of the daily microfoliant and the special cleansing gel, but i'm on the fence when it comes to the precleanse. i've used it off and on, and i think it makes me break out! not an *intense* breakout -- but still. i'm not a huge fan of the oily consistency of the product.

i feel like the precleanse step complicates my beauty routine, and i've found that i tend to leave it out. this product does work well to remove dirt and makeup, but i feel like the cleanser and microfoliant already do a great job of that.

  • Q:

Whenever I apply the pre-cleanser to my face I immediately start getting white bumps on my cheek areas and other places on my face. Does this mean that this product might be too harsh for my skin type? I am only oily on my cheeks, nose and forehead - which I think equates to combination skin. I also have visible pores on my cheeks. I do not want to continue using this product if it is irritating to the skin.

Does Precleanse contain parabens? I've been using it, and I love it. The Think Dirty app rates it a 9, due to parabens. Is this an older version that has been rated?
Asked on 10/30/2016 by Julie from Long Beach, CA

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

      Dear Julie,

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. The article that claimed parabens are harmful in cosmetics was debunked by the scientific community. We do not find parabens to be harmful. However, due to consumer demand, we have phased them out of products like Precleanse.

  • Q:

Ever since Dermalogica switched to the pump, the oil leaks out of the bottom after every pump and spills onto everything in my medicine cabinet. I lose a lot of product this way besides the annoyance of having to wipe everything down constantly. Is there any way to change the packaging or make it leak proof. I also can't travel with it now that it's a pump. I preferred the flip top.

    • A:

that is true, I leave it on the counter and I always have an oil round circle when I remove the bottle. I preferred the flip top as well.

  • Q:

Anyone having problems with the packaging? No matter how gently I use this bottle, the product always seeps up and around the pump, making a mess.
Asked on 8/9/2016 by RachSea from Richmond, VA, USA

    • A:

That wasn't a one time accident in packaging quality. Since they added the pump, it spills in shipping and leaks when used. Maybe if we keep telling them there might be a change.

  • Q:

Does the prcleanse have to followed by a dermalogica cleansing product?: I don't use the daily microfoliant every day, would you say this product only works well if you use it in conjunction with a dermalogica product, or would you recommend even if you used a different cleanser after, like clearasil or something.
Asked on 3/20/2016 by CSofia from London

    2 answers

    • A:

Pre cleanse is a highly effective product. It works best with Dermalogica products because a product like Clearasil doesn't contain natural and non irritating ingredients. The Daily Microfoliant is a great product that can be used daily. The answer to your question is no you don't have to use pre cleanse followed by a Dermalogica product. However results aren't guaranteed to be as successful.

Would you say this is a surfactant or a deep cleansing?
Asked on 2/25/2015 by Magie from Brisbane QLD, Australia

    4 answers

    • A:

      Hello Magie,
Thank you for your inquiry. PreCleanse is a deep cleansing oil based cleanser for all skin types. It will breakdown sebum and dirt on the skins surface and in the follicles. This cleanser is recommended as your first cleanse and should be followed with a second cleanser for your skin type. Please contact us with any further questions.

    • A:

This is not a deep cleansing system. I have asked the same question. My esthetician suggested using this prior to cleansing, but that it is not a cleanser in and of itself. You will want to follow up with a deep cleansing solution of some sort. I recommend the Essential Cleansing Gel or the MediBac Cleansing Gel.
