I'd never thought much about my favorite brand until I burst into tears at Schipol airport last year as some draconian security official threw away my precious stock of Dermalogica skin care products, thinking that they might be bombs.

Faced with two very long weeks without the ritual that gets me up every morning and puts me to bed every night, I realized just how passionate I was about the stuff I slapped on my skin.

And, as with most Dermalogica users, I'm not just your everyday cleanser/moisturizer girl either. Cleanser, Daily Microfoliant®, moisturizer, Treatment Foundation, Special Clearing Booster for problem areas.  All of it. I'm hooked.  And because I use it to start my day and to end it, it's both rejuvenating and relaxing, which you can't say about a lot of other products.

There's something about the message of leading edge science combined with natural products (with none of those added fragrances, colorants or other irritants) that fits in with my own philosophy around health and beauty. It makes sense to me.

I also really appreciate the fact that you can only get it from skin therapists. The people who know the most about skin. Even I can buy into that kind of endorsement. When someone is sitting there with their magnifying glass analyzing your skin and recommending the type of product that's going to keep you looking like you for a few more years, it's pretty persuasive. You see it as an investment. And recommending products to me in that post-facial buzz is pretty cunning too. I'm in the right frame of mind to make decisions about what to use on my skin and it also makes me feel like I'm taking that salon experience home.

Best of all, there are no flowery promises or scientific jargon for why a tiny tube of miracle cream is going to make me 21 again. It's just an honest and effective product, in simple packaging with a single minded endorsement -- that it's made by a licensed skin therapist.

Although it's expensive, I never get the sense that I'm paying for nothing. I know I'm not going to look like Keira Knightly, but my face genuinely looks and feels better for using it and I feel reassured that I've done the best thing for my skin.

Like Redken or Schwarzkopf, Dermalogica seem to have really managed to get their mix right. They balance their brand proposition with excellent product delivery and their pricing strategy, although at the ceiling, is probably about right for a premium face care brand. The exclusive professional endorsement factor just adds to the reassurance that I've made the right decision and that my money is well spent.

I'm pretty serious about caring for my skin. So when I really think about how Dermalogica makes me feel, I'd say having a product that makes me feel in control of that process is priceless. No other face cream gets close. I really pity the next security official who tries to get between me and my Special Clearing Booster!

I just wanted to thank you for having me at Dermalogica on Montana. The skin therapists were wonderful, and I loved the face treatment – it was great!

Naturally we are blessed in this business, as we receive so many gifts: but I must say a lot of them I don’t use because when I do I’m disappointed. I must tell you this was not the case with my visit to Dermalogica on Montana.  It was a nice experience, and my skin looks great.  I can’t wait to get my mom and girlfriend in to experience Dermalogica on Montana.

It was such a wonderful treat after the hectic Grammy weekend to relax and enjoy some peaceful time in your wonderful skin treatment center.

My skin therapist, Michelle, was wonderful and she taught me a lot about your products and answered all of my skin care questions. Your front desk assistant also helped educate me on the proper application of some the Dermalogica products.

Ever since my appointment, I have been following the prescribed skin care routine outlined by my skin therapist. And the results thus far are amazing. I have been getting compliments on my skin, especially from my husband. In fact, he was so impressed that this morning I got him to use my prescribed Dermalogica Cleanser and Daily Microfoliant®.  I am going to try to encourage him to keep it up, and to start using Multi-Active Toner and Solar Defense products, too. Thank you so much!

I am fairly new to the skin treatment experience and was very impressed by my experience at Dermalogica on Montana. The Dermalogica skin treatment was very impressive because my skin looks so rejuvenated, and because the whole experience was so informative!

Through Face Mapping, I have a better understanding of what products I should be using on my face and why. In the past, I had tried many over-the-counter skin cleansers and was never pleased with the results. I have also tried department store products, and it was hard to see past the "buy my product it will clear your skin" philosophy.

As a professional golfer with sensitive skin and who spends almost all my time outdoors, Dermalogica products and skin treatments work for me! My favorite products are the two Cleansers I was prescribed through my Face Mapping skin analysis: PreCleanse and UltraCalming Cleanser. The Daily Microfoliant® is amazing too! It's a great foamy exfoliant and my face feels totally refreshed after using it. My new favorite product is the Super Sensitive FaceBlock SPF30! You really can not go wrong with any of the Dermalogica products – or with the Dermalogica skin treatment!

I received a facial yesterday at Dermalogica, and wanted to say thank you! It sincerely was the best facial I have ever gotten. So unique and relaxing. And everyone there is so knowledgeable. Besides leaving with improved skin, I felt educated as well.

Dermalogica on Montana skin therapists – the backbone of the unique Dermalogica on Montana experience.

Unfortunately, one of my most memorable skin treatments was by far one of my least effective.  I entered the business, was asked to change into a robe, was instructed to enter a cold treatment room, and laid like a lifeless body under a steam machine for my “creaming and steaming.”  Then, my masque was applied, and my skin care professional exited the treatment room for 15 minutes while the masque set!

What a frightening experience!  What if I had a condition, such as a heart problem or a pace maker, that made the use of high-tech skin treatment modalities inadvisable?  What if the masque (while it may have smelled good) started to feel like it was burning?  How was I to alert my skin care professional to my needs if she wasn’t in the room?

At Dermalogica on Montana, we ensure that the moment you arrive, you know that we see you as a true individual, and your complete health is our first and foremost concern.
It all starts with our highly-trained therapists, who are recognized worldwide as the leaders in skin and body therapy.  But it’s more than the advanced techniques they learn – it’s the critical one-on-one connection they make with you.

After our skin therapists successfully complete intensive training classes researched and developed by The International Dermal Institute, a Senior Instructor trains our therapists, one-on-one, turning them into experts in everything from greeting and having the you fill out a consultation card to performing Face MappingSM and designing the subsequent treatment that is right for your skin’s needs.

Then it’s on to practicing on real-life clients.  Our Senior Instructor demonstrates the exclusive Dermalogica skin treatment techniques, and the skin therapists repeat the movements on that same client, making sure to stay in constant verbal contact, verifying their comfort level and if the techniques they are performing feel identical to what the Senior Instructor performed.  The commitment to learning the precise techniques accurately takes tenacity, and only the best of the best successfully complete this intense, interactive training segment.

This is just a small look into what makes Dermalogica on Montana skin therapists the best, most highly-regarded skin therapists in the world.  Make your appointment and experience the Dermalogica on Montana difference today!

For over 20 years, the Dermalogica brand has been steadfastly researched and developed by The International Dermal Institute, a legion of scientists, chemists, and industry professionals respected as the best of the best in the industry.  Our understanding of the structure and physiology of skin, and understanding of how different internal factors (such as hormones and stress) and external factors (such as extreme weather and pollution) can affect it, led to the development of Dermalogica products that were unique on the market because of what they didn’t include – S.D. Alcohol, Lanolin, artificial colors and artificial fragrances.  At the time of Dermalogica’s inception (and still today) these ingredients were considered product ingredient staples.

Our revolutionary approach to product development based upon an understanding of what’s good and bad for skin caused many brands to follow suit when it came to ingredients.  For example, “fragrance free” is one of the greatest selling points of many products on the market; even products found in drug stores.  So the time has come for Dermalogica products to set the standard again, this time receiving recognition for what they do contain.

In 2005, our revolutionary three-in-one exfoliating product, Daily Resurfacer, was one of the first to contain Rooibos Extract from the South African Red Bush, which contains 50 time more antioxidants than Green Tea, as well as being a rich source of vitamins and minerals critical for healthy skin.

In 2006, Dermalogica was the first to present solar defense products containing UV Smart Booster Technology – a customized microcapsule that safeguards active vitamins, then bursts open upon contact with UV rays, releasing an active ingredient complex of Vitamin C and Vitamin E for maximum free radical protection anytime skin is exposed to daylight.  We also launched our professional Thermal Body Therapy products that contain an exclusive blend of three Asian herbs, including Japanese Wasabi Root that has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial (a substance that kills or inhibits the growth of bacteria and viruses) properties.

And for 2007?  Well, we can’t tell you all the details of our newest products, but you can be assured that The International Dermal Institute is relentless when it comes to uncovering and researching the newest ingredients that will deliver the ultimate in skin health.  Once we find those ingredients, in depth scientific research begins, and it’s conducted by our chemists who have years and years of formulation experience under their belts.  And, through exhaustive rounds of testing, retesting, and even more testing for effectiveness, safety, and performance, new Dermalogica products that are destine to revolutionize the industry are born.  It’s what we are committed to at The International Dermal Institute, and why you can trust every Dermalogica product to deliver results and maximum product efficacy.

There is nothing worse than being pressured to buy cosmetics or creams by a sales person. "This will take 10 years off your skin." Jeez, I don't need to look prepubescent! Well, I had a wonderful experience at the Santa Monica Dermalogica store this past weekend where a helpful employee encouraged me to test before buying. That's right...test...before buying. I purchased a few items that I needed to replenish and then took her up on trying out a few of the foundation creams before spending the $40. I was able to take home some samples and give them a run. Wouldn't you know...I returned the next day to buy one of the foundations. Weird how that no pressure thing actually works. Good for Dermalogica for standing behind their brand and not feeling the need to shove products down your throat for an extra dime.

I have used Dermologica Active Moist for years, so being able to get a facial using Dermologica products was great. My technician was knowledgeable, and helped me update my skin care regime. My skin very sensitive skin has never looked or felt better. I am loving my new Dermologica products so much, I am wondering where have they been all my life!! I will be sticking with Dermologica from here on in.”

I'm a snob when it comes to facials, so I didn't know what to expect.  When I walked out of the door, I was converted.  Not only am I a true fan of their products, but now I'm driving 15 miles, twice a week for facials too!

OH MY GOODNESS!! MY SKIN!!!
It's all cleared up, and I have been using exactly what I was told, and everyone is making comments about how great and clear it is, and asking what I'm using. This is a true testimonial. I have tried every product for 9 years plus, this did it. My skin has never looked better with 1 week of using a product line. I'm in LOVE!!

Really, a HUGE thank you!

Do I really need a skin therapist?

I’ve been a professional in the skin care industry for 7 years, and even I can feel like the constant new information about skin health, products, and ingredients can be overwhelming.

Because of this information overload, I, just like you, have turned into a cautious shopper, asking questions about my skin health – “What really works and what never will?”  “Are certain ingredients harmful, or pointless?”  “Do I really need a professional skin treatment every 6 weeks?”  “Is this going to deliver results, or will it reside under my sink, another casualty of my blind faith in a miracle sold from behind a counter?”

The fact that you ask questions is great!  But who you ask them to is more important.  That’s where your Dermalogica on Montana skin therapist comes in.  Highly trained in everything from effective ingredients to the latest in treatment room modalities, only a skin therapist can take your skin health regimen full circle from diagnosis and treatment to recovery and prevention.

Think of your skin therapist as your point person on all things skin: she knows the most up-to-date facts about ingredients and products.  She knows everything from how the skin ages to how environmental factors can cause day to day changes.  She can perform the professional treatments with professional-grade products so powerful you could never find them in a mass market retailer.  And she can prescribe the products that will truly help you maintain the results of your professional treatment.  All this is because of the high training and education standards we require of our skin therapists.

The International Dermal Institute (IDI), the same facility that researches and develops the Dermalogica product line, is the premier provider of postgraduate skin and body therapy, and is where all Dermalogica on Montana skin therapists are rigorously and extensively trained.  And because classes at IDI are updated every six months, our skin therapists are continuously trained by highly-educated instructors aware of the most recent findings in the skin care industry.

It’s time to reconnect, or start connecting, with a skin therapist.  You’ll surely notice dramatic improvements in your skin’s health.

Are skin treatments really critical to the health of your skin?

Often times I’m asked if skin treatments performed every 4 to 6 weeks can really deliver results.

This is a tricky question, as the answer can be both yes and no!

If you go to a very well-trained skin therapist (meaning he or she has current training and access to today’s technology and products), then yes, a skin treatment can give you what you’re looking for.

However, if you visit a skin therapist who feels that what he or she learned even 6 months ago (let alone 6 years!) is good enough, or doesn’t carry a results-driven professional line, then your skin is only going to receive what is known as “creaming and steaming”!  And what that comes down to is a lack of visible results.

Another question I receive as far as “results” is “Why should I see a skin therapist when I can effectively treat my skin at home?”  The availability of high-powered home treatments pitched as being comparable or even better than professional treatments, many clients believe they don’t need a skin care professional anymore.  This could not be more untrue.  Think of it this way – you brush your teeth every day; maybe you even brush twice a day and floss regularly.  Do you still need to visit a dentist?  Absolutely!  There are things that only a dentist can treat because they have professional products and know how to check for any changes in the health of your teeth.  It works the same way for a skin therapist – only a skin therapist can treat your skin with professional products while managing your skin health.

Visit a qualified and educated skin therapist every four to six weeks for the results you want to see and the skin health maintenance you need.  Of course, you can find your highly trained skin therapist right here at Dermalogica on Montana!  All of our skin therapists have received the postgraduate education that’s recognized worldwide as the best of the best from The International Dermal Institute.
