Worked well in the beginning

By

Comments about clearing skin wash:

My face cleared up quite a bit when I began with this, but within a week I broke out again. I've been using for a couple of months now and have seen minimal results, but I'm still hoping.

Amazing!

Comments about clearing skin wash:

I have struggled with acne my entire life and nothing has helped clear it up as well as this face wash! Not only does it clear my acne but it doesn't dry out my face or burn it with harmful chemicals.

Good stuff even for old fogies like me

By

from CA

Comments about clearing skin wash:

I am over 50 but still have acne. I have always had acne and those of us who have it know it is no fun. Mine ranges from smaller surface breakouts to the deep-I'm-going-to-be-here-for-awhile cyst type problems. I rotate this product with Special Cleansing Gel, using each about half the time. I will not say this product prevents ALL breakouts, but I do not get the deep cysts and the surface breakouts are significantly decreased. If your teenage years are a very distant memory, do not be afraid of this product. It is gentle and will not leave you feeling stripped!

Definitely one of my favorites

By

from Gardendale

Comments about clearing skin wash:

It works! I've had adult hormonal acne for the past two years, nothing would help and only cause even more breakouts until I tried this. No it doesn't clear everything up but it drastically improves my skin. I've gone from having 10+ spots to 2-3 at a time. I really am glad to have found this product. I do use other treatments as well as this but if you can only afford one at a time then I would start here!

I will definitely be purchasing more and more!

By

from Hot Springs, AR

Comments about clearing skin wash:

I love it! I have sensitive skin, and certain facial cleaners make me breakout in eczema. I have had eczema sice I was a little child, and certain soaps and detergents make me rash up; and as a teen, I also have some little bits of acne. I have tried everything in the book, and still nothing. But then one day my aunt was talking to me about what she used, and she hasn't had any problems since. She still had a small amount of this Dermalogica and gave it to me to try, so I took it home and gave it a shot; thinking it wasn't going to work. But as I put a drop of it on my skin it felt so good as I lathered it in. I have never had better skin. And my face is less oily! It works miracles! For all ages! I bought myself another 16.9 oz. bottle when the other ran out!

ineffective

Comments about clearing skin wash:

This product did not irritate my acne sensitive skin but it also didn't help. I have adult acne pretty bad around my jaw and chin and I just felt that this did nothing. Will never buy again.

Helps my minor breakouts

By

from Baltimore, MD

Comments about clearing skin wash:

I have very oily skin that is prone to minor breakouts -nothing extreme, but with how thorough I am with my skin care routine, a bit frustrating. This product paired with the precleanse has significantly reduced my minor breakouts, as well as the oiliness of my skin. I highly recommend them together!

      Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. Please avoid Salicylic Acid and retinol while pregnant. You can safely use Breakout Control and Oil Free Matte SPF 30 if you are interested in using MediBac products. You can also use Special Cleansing Gel and Skin Prep Scrub.

      Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. Clearing Skin Wash is for a full face of acne. It is important to be patient and persistent with acne products. It can take time to manage acne. Additionally, there are so many internal and external contributing factors that must be addressed. Finally, it is normal to purge in the beginning. Be sure to follow with a spot treatment and light weight, oil-free moisturizer.

      Kind Regards,
      Bernadette

  • Q:

Will the oils in this product clog pores?

Would clear start hydrating lotion be a good match with this cleanser?

Or would a regular face lotion with 0.5 salicylic acid suffice for night time use?

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

      Hi Latoya,

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. If you are an adult with a full face of acne, you may prefer Clearing Skin Wash, Multi Active Toner and Oil Free Matte SPF 30 (AM) or Oil Control Lotion (PM).

If you are a teenager with acne, you may prefer Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash, Breakout Clearing All Over Toner and Skin Soothing Hydrating Lotion.

  • Q:

DOES THE PRODUCT PRODUCE A RICH LATTER? LOOKING FOR A PRODUCT THAT LATTERS ALOT WITH ALOT OF FOAM?

    DOES THE PRODUCT CAUSE PURGING?
SINCE I INCLUDES TWO ACIDS: SALICYC AND LACTIC

AND PRODUCT IS NOT LABELED NONCOMEDEGENIC, I ASSUME BECAUSE IT INCLUDES OIL. ACNE PRODUCTS ARE USUALLY OIL FREE.
Asked on 8/15/2017 by LATOYA from NEW YORK

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

      Hello Latoya,

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. Clearing Skin Wash is designed for a full face of acne. If you have a full face of acne, Clearing Skin Wash is ideal. If you have sporadic breakouts, Special Cleansing Gel with a spot treatment like Breakout Control is best.

It contains tea tree oil, for its antimicrobial properties. Tea tree oil is fantastic for acne prone skin. We do not use phrasing like noncomedogenic because what may cause your skin to breakout can be different from what causes someone else to breakout. We do our best to keep out ingredients that will irritate the skin, clog pores, etc.

This cleanser does exfoliate with Salicylic Acid and Lactic acid. Acne skin tends to require more exfoliation to combat the buildup in the pores. Purging is normal for certain skin types but is temporary.

To use, simply use the size of a pea with lots of water so that the product may foam.

      Kind Regards,
      Bernadette

I was wondering if this product cause purging and how long it lasts before it starts to improve? because I have been breaking out more where I usually break out and was wondering if my skin is probably purging

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

      Hi Paige,

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. Clearing Skin Wash is for a full face of acne. That being said, if you have a full face of acne and are using Clearing Skin Wash and your face is purging, this is normal. Please allow a couple of weeks for your skin to adapt to the potent sophistication of the formula.

If you only have mild, sporadic breakouts, Special Cleansing Gel is ideal. If you have a full face of oil (and not much acne), Dermal Clay Cleanser is best.

      Kind Regards,
      Bernadette
