We’ve always said that having a good skin care routine is just as essential as brushing your teeth, so it was a natural partnership when Dermalogica teamed up with Sensodyne recently at the Sensodyne Social Stylist event in Sydney.
The event hosted by Famous magazine allowed 250 women to attend a complimentary function at The Victoria Room where they could sip cocktails and be pampered. Dermalogica was on hand providing Face Mapping® skin analysis and product samples to the savvy crowd.

dermalogica, backstage at fashion week
Rosemount Australia Fashion Week ’11 officially begun yesterday, and our favourite designer Kirrily Johnston held her show at Icebergs, Bondi Beach. The setting was stunning, as were the models including Samantha Harris, Myf Sheperd and Louise Van Der Vorst. The collection was simply beautiful, with the Dermalogica team taking quite a few notes hopeing to add some pieces to our wardrobes!
Throughout the week, the models are doing back-to-back shows. Sounds glamourous? Well, it looks glamourous, but behind the scenes is chaos. Make up, off, then on, then off and on again; hair extensions glued-in, hair ironed, teased, poked, prodded – the constant preening takes it’s toll and there’s no time to zone out.
Enter Dermalogica – backstage at the Kirrily Johnston show prepping each models skin to not only create a hydrated and dewy base for make-up application, but also giving the models a few minutes of R and R before the chaos starts again. Their only gripe? That Dermalogica can’t be with them before every show through the long week of Fashion Week.
Paula Joye from Life.Styled. came back stage to see what we do and wrote about it here: http://www.lifestyled.com.au/beauty/save-the-models-skin/
Check it out.

what does a feminist look like? with dermalogica founder jane wurwand
How about short… stocky (his character prefers “forceful”)… openly neurotic… hairy… otherwise bald… wears glasses… and decidedly male?
We’re tickled that actor Jason Alexander has recently committed his support to the FITE initiative. He explains that the mission resonates for him because he was raised by a very strong mother, AND grandmother. Lucky guy.
Which brings us to a dilemma worthy of a vintage Seinfeld episode. Many people have purchased one or more of the specially-identified five Dermalogica products which benefit joinFITE.org.
But they haven’t yet done the really easy part, which is to redeem the code on the product. Redeeming the code on the product is what then allows Dermalogica to fund our portion of the microloan. Which is of course the whole point of FITE.
To quote George Costanza, “That’s koo-koo talk, Jerry!”
There is currently a pending balance of about $1.5 MILLION waiting to be funded. This is represented by Dermalogica products which consumers have ALREADY purchased. But they have not redeemed the codes online, which takes about, mmmm, 60 seconds.
Dermalogica cannot fund the loans until the codes are redeemed. We want to write that check!
We’ve done a bit of intel, and the only explanation we can come up with collectively is that some consumers feel concern that if they redeem the code online, they will have somehow “registered” for something, will somehow find themselves on spam lists, will suddenly be barraged with bizarre “male enhancement” emails (with apologies to George Costanza and his infamous legacy of “shrinkage”…), etc.
You have my personal guarantee: none of the above will happen. Well, wait, I can’t vouch for the shrinkage. But redeeming a FITE product code will not place you on any weird lists, nor subject you to spam. You will be in the Dermalogica database as a member of our tribe, which is a relationship we take seriously, and guard carefully.
And you can always opt out – if your sensibilities are in fact Seinfeldian, and therefore intimacy-phobic.
To those of you who have already purchased that $1.5 million in Dermalogica product, please redeem your product code today, so that we may fund more of the 25,000 women entrepreneurs worldwide who inspire the FITE initiative – in fact, I can think of no better Mother’s Day gift to the world.
